switch would be great if we could get it to work

Don't know whether it was our fault or if the switch malfunctioned. It is not working for our fan. Think a family friend who installed may not have followed the directions. Will give it another try with professional electrician (although it shouldn't be necessary - but again...perhaps our error in installing)
